"My daughter wanted to be a Rainbow Girl for as long as either of us could remember.  As the day of initiation approached, I was worried that the reality of membership may not live up to the expectations that she had established over the years.  As it turned out, the reality of being a Rainbow Girl has exceeded all of her expectations, and mine!  She now has the opportunity to participate in local and statewide service projects, gaining a true understanding of what it is like to be of charitable heart and philanthropic spirit, while also developing true friendships with girls across our state and our world.  I am proud to say that my daughter is a Rainbow Girl!"

Membership Information

Petitions for membership are available and may be obtained from each Assembly.  Once a petition has been received, along with the related fees for membership, the members of the Assembly vote to accept the potential new member as a candidate for Initiation.  New members join Rainbow through a ceremony called an Initiation.  The Initiation represents a symbolic journey of a girl's search for life's treasures.  Along the journey, there are seven lessons represented by the colors of the Rainbow.  These lessons symbolize the progress of a new member on her journey searching for the Pot of Gold.

The Lessons of Rainbow

The lesson of Love represents love in all of its forms.  It reminds us that we must love everyone - our God, our families, our friends, and even our enemies.  The lesson of Religion emphasizes the importance of a religion based on love and forgiveness.  The lesson of Nature encourages the importance of spending time in the out-of-doors.  The lesson of Immortality reminds us of the promise of eternal life.  The lesson of Fidelity teaches us to show others by our actions that we are honest and reliable.  The lesson of Patriotism encourages us to be a proud citizen of our country, to respect its flag, and to defend it through military service when called to do so.  The lesson of Service ties all of the other lessons together.  It is the foundation of our Order and stresses the importance of providing unselfish acts of kindness for others.
